Ladybug (Translation)

Everyone is asking
Ladybug why are you so tiny?
Oh God, oh God I love her
Ladybug I will pay everything for you.

Hey folks listen,
Sweet beautiful children.
Ladybug, little girl,
You are great, the greatest song.

Jinji rinji Ladybug
You, tiny beauty
Go away man,  I’m not marriageable,
Children, folks

Everyone is asking,
And mother is serving beans,
Oh God, oh God everything has been eaten,
Ladybug can’t wait.

Hey folks listen,
Sweet beautiful children,
Life is a merry-go-round
God bless husband and wife.

Jinji rinji Ladybug
You, tiny beauty
Go away man,  I’m not marriageable,
Children, folks

Hey folks listen,
Sweet beautiful children.
Ladybug, little girl,
You are great, the greatest song.

The Roma hymn Ederlezi made famous by the soundtrak of Kusturica’s film “Time of the Gypsies” talks about the celebration in honour of Saint George.

St. George’s Day (translation)

All the Roma, Mother
Are sacrificing lambs
We are poor
I live far away..

All the Roma, Mother
Our holiday
Our holiday
Hederlezi

All the Roma, Mother
All the Roma are singing
All the Roma are dancing
They are sacrificing lambs.
Ey……

All the Roma, Father
All the Roma, oh Mother
All the Roma, Father
Hederlezi, Hederlezi
All the Roma, Mother.
Ey………..

Mashala Mashala

Mashala Mashala

Song by Goran Bregovic. Maşallah is a Turkish word derived from Arabic origin. In Qouran, the holy book of Muslims, Masallah means that any event can only be happened with the creative will of Allah. Nowadays, this word is often used to prevent people form bad luck, there is a very common saying in Turkish, “41 kere masallah” means masallah for 41 times ; to avoid bad luck and NAZAR (bad sight of jealous people).

Mashala Mashala

Translation:

It’s so, it’s so sweet, my Lord
Don’t let the evil eye see it
Masala, masala…… Masala…

Hey the first one, hey the first love, my Lord
Don’t let the evil eye see it
Masala, masala……. Masala…

Pray girls, pray, I’m praying too
For this love to be my first and my last
Come on, Lord, look at us,
Look what a couple we make

Come on, Lord, look at us,
Like two roses, he and I
Play trumpets when I put on the white dress

Play trumpets, don’t let my mother cry
Look at him,
Handsome as a model
Don’t let the evil eye see him
Masala, masala……… Masala…..
