Song by Ando Drom

Keren Chave
Keren savorale drom, te khelel o puro rom,
o puro rom te khella amari voja kerla.

Duj duj desuduj, csumidavme lako muj,
lako muj si rupuno, tah o savo szomnakuno.

O temerav, tena csacsipo phenav,
lako muj si rupuno, tah o savo szomnakuno.

Keren savorale drom, te khelel o puro rom,
o puro rom te khella amari voja kerla.

Duj duj desuduj, csumidavme lako muj,
lako muj si rupuno, tah o savo szomnakuno.

O temerav, tena csacsipo phenav,
lako muj szi rupuno, taj o savo sumnakuno.

Translation
Make way, children,
Let the old man dance
When the old man dances
He taps on for twenty-one days.

Two, two, twelve
I’ll kiss her mouth
Her face is silver,
and her child gold

O let me die
if I don’t tell the truth
Her face is silver,
and her child gold.

About gypsylyrics

This blog is for everyone who loves Roma culture, music and dances. I'm not an expert, just an admirer who wants to share her passion. This blog wouldn't been possible without the Danza Duende project in my life. Thanks to my Gypsy Duende masters to teach me all I know.

  1. Who did your translation of this song Keren Chave, just that you should go over it,second verse Her face is silver,Lako muj si rupuno, and her children gold, thaj o chavele sumnakuno

    • Hi Juan,

Thanks for the correction! I normally find the lyrics on the web and I can’t really make sure they are accurate as they are in many different languages but with the help of the community we can get them right for everyone to see 😉 thanks again!

      • it’s a lil bit inaccurate, because lako muj means her mouth, or rather her lips
as you see it in the line above: chumidavme lako muj – I kiss her lips (not face)
        so the correct translation is:
        …chumidavme lako muj
        lako muj si rupuno…
        …I kiss her lips,
        her lips are silver…
