Hi,
I’ve been quite desperate to find the lyrics to É ratyuné jákhengi ági (My daughter Agi with the night black eyes) from Kalyi Jag’s album O Suno (The Dream). It is my favorite song of all times, and I connect very deeply with it. It would be amazing to have the lyrics.
Thank you sincerely!
Marco

This is the song in romanian:
hopa diri, diri….
Anii mei și tinerețea
Uite-i Doamne cum se duc (x 2)
Nu-i păcat, Doamne de mine
De tânăr să vin la Tine.
hopa diri, diri….
Astăzi beau și mâine beau
Mă întreb Doamne de unde îi iau (x 2)
Dar mai mult se întreabă dușmanii
De unde câștig eu banii.
I tried to translate the song in english. So…
hopa diri diri…
<My years and my youth
<Look Lord how they pass by
<It is not a pity Lord
<Young to come to you.

hopa diri…
<Today I drink, tomorrow I drink
<I wonder Lord where do I get them (it refers to money)
<More the enemies wonder
<Whence do I earn the money.

Hello there,
In my singing group we have been learning a song which we call “Oko la”. It’s a beautiful gypsy lament from Czech apparently, but I cannot find it online anywhere! Can anybody help?
Many thanks
Marianne
Hello there! I’m just here to add to the wanted list of this marvelous site. I’d reeally want to know the lyrics to Áhuz, mámâ by Kanizsa Csillagai and even more so those of Huláv tu séj by Romano Drom… And that’s just for starters 😉
Oups, sorry I was too hasty, found this translation for Áhuz, mámâ 😳
Oh, mother, cook potatoes for me,
So that I go crazy.
Listen, mother, my woman has left me,
Because my woman has left me with the three children.
The three children are crying at home,
Crying, because they have no father and no mother.
Hear, mother, my woman has left me,
Because my woman has left me with the three children.
Hello there. First of all, thanks a lot for such a helpfull site, really grat job.
Can anybody post the lyrics and translation of «Kanak tu ternyi szanasz» by Romano Drom?
Thanks and greetings from Ukraine.
Ciao, i’ve already left a message in another page of this site (maybe the wrong page). I’m searching for the words of a song of Kalyi Jag: “oh My God, who is there”. I don’t know the original title, maybe it’s “Aj, Dévale Koj Odi”. Could you help me please? thanks 🙂

Do you have the lyrics to Ravagok a zonograra?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz5_cyspVL8 this ist the song! It would be great! thank you!
Hello ! Thanks for all the stuffs i found here. But i’m still looking for the lyrics of the sinti song named “de man devla” from musik deutscher zigeuner han’che Weiss
Looking forward to your answer
Best regards
The name of this song is “Sanie cu zurgala” and originaly it is Romanian Gypsy song. Les Paul is the first musician from the West who played this song as one of his favourites and he named it “Johnny”. In the last 2-3 decades there are hundreds of bands all around the world playing “Johnny”, but most notable versions are by “Latcho Drom”, Zvonko Bogdan, Hot Club of Zagreb and Emy Dragoi with his wife.

Lyrics to Naj Ma Shela, thanks to Mihaly “Mazsi” Rostás from Romengo:
Naj ma shela me te lav
de mange tu tyira sha
de mange tu tyira sha,
te na desla ingravla
Si ma shela me te lav
de mange tu tyira sha
de mange tu tyira sha
te na desla csoravla
My translation:
I have no money to get married
Give me your daughter
Give me your daughter
If you don’t give me her I’ll carry her off.
I have money to get married
Give me your daughter
Give me your daughter
If you don’t give me her I’ll steal her.
I can’t help but think that this is meant to be funny, given the contrast between the two verses; that wasn’t quite what I expected from the sound, but to be honest Mónika could read out her shopping list and it’d sound dramatic & tragic.
Thanks a lot for that!! This is one of my favourite songs! I’ll post it asap crediting you. Regards
Hi i was wondering if you could help me find the lyrics to Kraj Cheresko by Rina Churron. Thank you.
I would like to get the lyrics for Arrinconamela from Grito de Guerra. Flamenco song from the film Vengo. Thank you!

Hi, my name is Daniel and I look for the lyrics and translation of “Lakhere Bala”. As far as I know, it is a Czekh gypsy song, there is a recording by Ida Kelarova. Thank you so much!

Soske mange ajsi romni

Hello.
I also found this song and love it! I would like to know the translation to “Lakhere Bala”.
Thank you.,
susan
Anyone have lyrics for De Man Daje Mol Te Piau or Dui Dui Demonori (or both :))? Thx in advance!
Sefki Osmanov sounds like he is a Rom from south Serbia, per his dialect. The song is in Serbian, not Romani.
Crna Moja Ciganka (My Pretty Romani Girl)
Volim jednu Ciganku jer sam pravi Ciganin (I love one Romani girl, because i am a real Rom)
Ljubav svoju poklanjam njoj (My love i give to her)
Lepa crna Ciganka, ona je moja sreca sva (Pretty black Romani girl, she is all the luck i have)
Drugu nikad necu ljubit ja (Other girl i will never kiss/love).
Chorus:
Ljubim je do zore (I am kissing her until the dawn)
Usne njene gore (Her lips are on fire)
Ljubav cveta za nas dvoje (Love blooms for two of us)
Srecni smo oboje. (We are both happy)
Crne ruke njene te, ne dam ih za ceo svet (Those black hands of hers, I wouldnt trade for the whole World)
I usne njene sto ih ljubim ja (And her lips that I am kissing)
Za nju zivim srecan sam, ona je moj divni san (I live happy only for her, she is my beautiful dream)
I za nju cu zivot ja da dam. (And for her i will give my life)
Chorus..
Ne treba mi nista, sreco, jer sad nju ja imam (I need nothing, oh my good luck, because i have her now)
Srecan ko ja niko nije sad (No one is as happy as i am now)
Volim njenu cergu sto pruza meni srecu (I love her tent, that gives me happiness [note: cerga can mean both a tent, and a caravan])
Usne njene sto ih ljubim ja (And her lips that I am kissing now).
Thanks!! 😊
Reply to Pamela.
“Aj, Devlale, koj odi” is found on Kalyi Jag’s cd: Lungoj O Drom Angla Mande. Text and translation into English.Hereis the text:

Hieronder de vertaling zoals Tcha me ze net bezorgde: glad i can help! beste.

Hello the song is called na co pojdem domov
Hi ,
I’m look for lyrics of this song and i would want to know if it’s a traditionnal song or if it’s Besh’O’drom composition. Thanks
It is a mix of traditional songs. The first three and the last verse is from “Este jő, szürkül bé”, the fourth is from “Kicsi utca, kicsi ház”, the fifth one i could not find, it is a possible add on from Besh o Drom.
Elé elé ne vissza, a gyűrűmet add vissza
Elé elé ne vissza, a gyűrűmet add vissza
Mer ha vissza nem adod, kitépem e hajadot
Mer ha vissza nem adod, kitépem e hajadot
Falu végén kicsi ház, benne rózsám mit csinálsz
Falu végén kicsi ház, benne rózsám mit csinálsz
Csinositom magamat, varom a galambomat
csinositom magamat, varom a galambomat
Kicsi leány, kicsi kulcs, mikor basznak ne sikults
Kicsi leány, kicsi kulcs, mikor basznak ne sikults
hello my name is Marie , i look for the lyrics of ande gava song by parno graszt, can you help me?
Hi! I had a look and I think the lyrics might be on the band’s website but at the moment is not working. I’ll try to have a look again in a few days 😉
HI, does anyone know the lyrics to the song Sa Bas Tute? I believe it’s a Kosovo tune.
La Vent from the film Transylvania is the just a different arrangement of Zold Az Erdo (sorry I don’t have a keyboard with the accent marks) on Ando Drom’s album Kay Phirel o Del.
zold az erdo, zold a hegy is,
a szerensce jon is, megy is
gondok kese husunkba vag
Kepmutato lett a vilag
egesz vilag ellensegunk
uzott tolvajokkent elunk
nem loptunk mi esak egy szoget
Jezus verzo tenyerebol
Isten konyorulj meg nekunk
ne szenvedjen tovabb nepunk
megatkoztal meg is vertel
orok csavargokka tetel
green is the forest, green is the hill
fortune comes and fortune goes
knife of troubles cuts our flesh
the world has turned two-faced
the whole world is against us
we live like thieves on the run
we haven’t stolen, just a nail
from the bloody palm of Jesus
Lord have mercy
end our people’s suffering
you’ve beaten and condemned us
forever wanderers we’ve become
That is true! I didn’t notice! Thanks a lot for letting me know and the lyrics and translation 🙂
I guess since I’m new to your website I should clarify that I am not Romani. I’m doing a special summer community radio show in the US on Music Romanes. (It’s called “On the Romani Trail – An Appreciation of Music Romanes”.) Roma do listen, however, because it is the only station in our region that will dedicate shows to Romani music, but the main audience is non-Roma.
I am looking for English translations the these songs:
Ciumajle (aka. Tsumaile or Tsumajle)
Hasijam
and
Sunen Romalen
I understand some of the Romani language, but I’m not fluent and I could use help with these three songs.
Thank you.
Hi there, I’m afraid I’m not roma either, but also some of my audience is, so maybe someone can help you with that 😉 I started this blog because I was learning the dances of the different countries and I fell in love with the music and I just wanted to be able to sing the songs as well and share my passion 🙂
I’m afraid I don’t have the translations, just the lyrics of the first one, I’ll have a look anyway and see what I can do 😉
Cheers!
Can you upload the lyrics from the song Tchawo or Tchavo? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvLPTSYGYD0
Thank you!
Hi Lydia! I would love to but I’m afraid I don’t have them. I’ll try to find them. Thanks for sharing the video it’s great! 🙂
Can anyone write down this lyrics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce8aosiaf2Y
Hi there! I love the song Odjila Ciganocka! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag2qu125Iqs Does anyone has the lyrics and the sheetmusic? Thanks a lot!
Hi fellow gypsies, and gypsy music lovers. I am looking for the lyrics(and maybe a translation) of a beautiful song from “Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven”, i think the name of the song is “mato”, but i might be wrong. Here is a link for the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEH8cwAi2d4
Cheers
